Jewelry

Care:
Each piece of scarlet jewelry is handmade and packaged with care. To keep your jewelry in premium condition, keep jewelry away from hair products and perfumes. Store silk-strung pieces flat to prevent stretching. Store pieces with chain away from other jewels they may get tangled with. If you keep your jewels in a sealed box or bag, this will slow the process of oxidation. I recommend using a polishing cloth gently for your gold and silver and a non-abrasive slightly damp cloth to clean gemstones. Stones kept away from direct sunlight will retain their brilliant color.

If your jewelry needs further care, please email scarlet@sforscarlet.com.

Materials:
Genuine semi-precious and precious gemstones sourced from around the world are used in the production of scarlet jewelry. Due to the nature of gemstones, there will be some natural variation from piece to piece that makes each piece of jewelry personal and unique. Gemstone value is determined by clarity, color, size, availability and vibrancy.

Cultured freshwater pearls are natural pearls that are created within organisms in Asia and the South Pacific. The organism is implanted with an organic material that the pearl then grows around. The implanted material can be any shape, not only round, which explains how the oblong stick pearls in my work are formed. Things that determine a pearl's value include the luster, color, and shape. Occasionally I incorporate dyed pearls that come in a wide range of colors from red to gold to green.

I will customize your metal based on your own style, quality preference or sensitivity. I use sterling (.925) silver, 14k gold-filled metal, solid gold, 23k and 24k gold vermeil. 14k gold-filled metal is produced by fusing a layer of solid karat gold to a supporting metal alloy. The bond produced is a permanent one and will not rub off with wear. The karat gold content must be 1/20th of the total metal weight, whereas goldplate by definition contains less. I use 14k gold-filled to create beautiful, yet durable and affordable jewelry. 23k and 24k gold vermeil is made by electroplating 23k or 24k gold, respectively, on sterling silver.

Vintage and heirloom pieces can be included however I do not guarantee the integrity or material authenticity of these pieces.
